Teen & Children’s Orthodontics

Experienced teeth straightening

As a family dentist Dr. Burden has made children’s orthodontics one of his practice focuses. He loves seeing his patients’ bright, straight and confident smiles after finishing their orthodontic treatment.

Parents have been bringing their children to Dr. Burden for their children’s orthodontics for over twenty years. Dr. Burden has advanced training in orthodontics and has completed hundreds of children’s orthodontics cases. He is a member of the Mid-America Orthodontics Society.

Having straight, aligned teeth will increase your child’s self-confidence in their looks and smile. Dr. Burden will make sure your child receives quality children’s orthodontic treatment that will complement their facial structure and personality.

Dr. Burdens’ orthodontic options

  • Traditional braces. These have worked well for decades. Dr. Burden particularly recommends them for children with more complex teeth straightening and bite issues.
  • Invisalign® Clear Aligners. No metal brackets and the removable aligners (high-grade plastic trays) let children eat what they want and clean their teeth properly.

Dr. Burden will discuss your child’s options in a complimentary children’s orthopedics consultation and answer any questions you may have so you can make an informed decision.

Invisalign® The Clear Alternative to Braces

Children whose permanent teeth have come in can take advantage of Invisalign’s invisible straightening. Children’s adult teeth have usually fully erupted by age 11 or 12.

Invisalign is a proven alternative to traditional metal braces. Invisalign straightens teeth with a series of clear, customized, removable appliances called “aligners,” not with traditional metal brackets and wires.

Early Orthodontics for young children

The American Orthodontic Association recommends that an orthodontic evaluation should be performed by age seven. Permanent teeth usually start to come in around age 6 or 7. It is at this age that orthodontic issues appear.

Dr. Burden has long been an advocate of preventive orthodontics for young children. That’s why he believes a child should be seen the first time at age 2, to examine how teeth are coming in (straight or crooked) and assist the child then so that orthodontic care won’t be required in the future.

With each routine visit, Dr. Burden checks every child’s bite to see whether pre-orthodontic guidance is needed to make certain they have optimum dental health.
