Porcelain veneers: an easy, quick way to a natural smile

A dental veneer is a thin layer of synthetic material bonded to the tooth’s surface to improve the appearance of your smile. A veneer placed over your teeth to change their shape and  appearance has been called “instant orthodontics,”  because you can quickly straighten, whiten and improve your smile.

Dr. Burden has extensive training and experience in cosmetic dentistry and veneer placement. His objective is to create a healthy, natural-looking smile that enhances your appearance and self-esteem. And as your self-esteem grows, your confidence gets a boost, too.

Minimal-Prep Porcelain Veneers

Dr. Burden believes in minimally invasive dentistry. He prefers to keep as much of your original tooth structure as possible when placing veneers.

Using ultra-thin, highly translucent Lumineers® that require little or no tooth reduction, in two short visits, your smile will look like new!  Veneers by Lumineers are so durable, they resist wear for over 20 years.

Your Lumineers procedure is a completely pain-free way to reshape and permanently whiten your teeth. Because they are ultra-thin, once the procedure is completed, there is no post placement discomfort or sensitivity.

You probably have lots of questions about cosmetic dentistry procedures. That’s why we’re pleased to offer a Complimentary Consultation with the doctor to find out just what he can do for you.

Dental conditions Porcelain Veneers can repair

Veneers are an excellent way to improve the appearance of your teeth. Veneers can be used to fix the following conditions:

  • Misshapen teeth
  • Broken or chipped teeth
  • Mildly crooked teeth
  • Dark, yellow or stained teeth
  • Gaps between your teeth
  • Permanently stained or discolored teeth

Porcelain Veneers Process

Producing a perfect smile is truly an art, and our doctors will use their advanced training, skills and experience to successfully design the shape, color, size and alignment of your porcelain veneers.

After you’ve decided to move ahead with your porcelain veneers, a series of events will take place, all in the comfort of our office. Blending precision dentistry, perfect planning and an artist’s eye for detail, we will take meticulous measurements and photographs to create the smile you want in just two visits.

Your 1st Veneer Visit

After your initial consultation, Dr. Burden will take an impression of your upper and lower teeth, and send the mold (sometimes called ‘wax-ups’ or ‘study models’), to a dental lab along with photos and other records. Unlike traditional veneers, there is typically no need for extensive drilling or shots. Occasionally, however, Dr. Burden may do a temporary so you can see the final product as it will look once your procedure is complete.

Your 2nd Veneer Visit

On your next visit, Dr. Burden will place your porcelain veneers as planned. Before he bonds them in place, he will ensure a good fit and then bond them, one by one. As he progresses, he will check your bite to make certain each newly bonded tooth fits correctly and doesn’t interfere with your bite in any way.

Unless you’re scheduled for further, non-veneer related dental work, after the second visit, you’re ready for your first of many compliments on your new smile!

One-Visit Veneers

An option is to have your veneers created and placed in one visit using Dr. Burden’s CEREC 3D technology. He can design and mill the veneers in his own office lab, and adjust them until they are the shade and shape you like.

Dental Bonding

We believe that dental bonding plays an important role in today’s world of high-tech dentistry. However, Dr. Burden prefers to use bonding only in smaller areas or to build up a small tooth or repair a chipped tooth.

Dr. Burden typically will recommend porcelain veneers in many cases, because of the veneer’s superior durability, stain resistant properties, and overall appearance. However, dental bonding can be used as an affordable option if porcelain veneers are beyond a patient’s budget.
