Maintain Optimal Health
At James A. Burden DDS and Associates, we treat you and your family as if you were members of our own. That means that we will do everything we can to help you and your loved ones avoid dental health issues through preventive care and education. Routine dental care is the best way to maintain a strong, healthy smile, and at your regular visits we will ensure that your mouth is a healthy environment by offering cleanings, fluoride treatments, and more.
Cleanings & X-Rays
While a healthy oral hygiene routine at home is your first line of defense when it comes to dental health issues, regular cleanings and exams will keep you on track. Professional cleanings twice a year will ensure that your mouth is free of oral bacteria and our train hygienists will clean hard-to-reach surfaces of your teeth that are usually missed with a toothbrush and floss.
Dental x-rays are important because they allow our team to see small issues that may become bigger problems down the road. X-rays show a detailed picture of your dental health and give us the ability to address problems that can’t be seen during the most thorough oral exam.
Fluoride Treatments
If your teeth show signs of the early stages of decay, fluoride treatments can strengthen your tooth enamel and help you avoid cavities. During this non-invasive, painless treatment, one of our hygienists will apply a highly-concentrated paste or gel to your teeth, let it sit for a few minutes, then wipe it away. Fluoride is a naturally occurring mineral that has the unique ability to strengthen “soft spots” in your enamel and keep cavities from forming.
Dental Sealants
Rear molars are at high risk of developing cavities since we use these teeth to chew. Oral bacteria can build up over time if teeth are not cleaned properly, especially when sugar and acids directly contact teeth so frequently. To help keep rear molars cavity-free, we offer dental sealants. This painless procedure involves the application of a special dental resin that forms a clear barrier on top of your teeth to protect them from direct contact with harmful substances.
TMJ/TMD Treamtent
If you suffer from unexplained headaches or jaw pain, or you notice “locking” or “clicking” sounds when opening or shutting your mouth, you may have a disorder related to your temporomandibular joint (TMJ/TMD). After a consultation and diagnosis, we offer treatment with mouth guards and night guards, and we also help you address lifestyle changes that can minimize your symptoms.
Sleep Apnea Treatment
Sleep apnea is one of the most common sleep disorders in America, and many people do not even realize that they are suffering from this condition. The most common type of sleep apnea occurs when the soft tissue at the back of the throat relaxes during sleep, causing a blockage of the airway (through either the nose and/or mouth), and loud snoring occurs accompanied by a 10-second or more lapse in breathing several times throughout the night. At James A. Burden DDS and Associates, we offer sleep apnea treatment with oral appliances and nightguards to give you a healthy, restful night’s sleep.
Periodontal Care
Gum disease (also known as periodontal disease) affects nearly half of American adults. This disease occurs when your gums become inflamed due to bacteria build up below their surface. Our caring, friendly, and highly-trained hygienists will treat you should your periodontal exam indicate that you have mild to moderate gum disease. We use advanced equipment to treat your gums and when your procedure is complete, we will teach you how to keep your gums free from disease and bacteria.
